Riviera Life Movie Guide              Easy Rider motors back into Cotignac

The Riviera Life Movie Guide features trailers & reviews of the latest V.O. movies in our comprehensive guide to regional screenings; New on the Riviera this week: No new movies this week but some classics get a fresh screening. In Cotignac Dennis Hopper's seminal road movie Easy Rider, and Roman Polanski's moving The Pianist get a one off screening. In Nice, Terence Malick's romance Days of Heaven starring Richard Gere is screening daily. Monaco's Open Air Cinema continues daily screenings of a different recent release each evening.

Riviera Life Business  Monaco's Japan exhibition is a timely reminder

This week, the “Kyoto-Tokyo: from Samurais to manga” exhibition taking place 14 Jul to 12 Sep 10 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco inspires Richard to look back at the Japanese economic boom of the 80s and the subsequent crash in the 90s from which the Japanese economy has never fully recovered. Richard finds some striking parallels with the recent boom and bust in the West and asks if there are lessons to be learnt.

Riviera Life News             Local residents fight quarry plans in Lorgues

Almost two months ago Lorgues resident Sally Perigo discovered that an old limestone quarry, literally on her doorstep was to be reactivated and started investigating. Local residents, both French and expat  have been fighting a campaign to get the project cancelled. 22nd July they demonstrated with a peaceful march up the small country chemin, which the quarry company propose to use for 20 ton lorries. Anita Rieu-Sicart, Editor of the Var Village Voice writes an article and RivieraLife.tv reporter David Rowe compiled a video report on the march.
