with Robert Redford at MIPCOM Canneseuronews 08 Oct
10 Robert Redford has
come a long, long way since the days he slept rough
on the French Riviera, as a young man struggling to
make it as a painter. The actor-director, who is 74,
is also the founder of the Sundance television
channel. He was in Cannes for the MIPCOM audiovisual
entertainment fair to promote the international
ambitions of the network, which launched outside the
United States last year. After a mis-spent youth,
Redford spent a year in France when he was 18, and
the first time he visited the Mediterranean resort
he slept under the pier opposite the luxurious
Carlton Hotel.
Gene Simmons wants to “sue everyone” over
file sharing
consequenceofsound.net 08
Oct 10 Speaking recently at the
MIPCOM convention in Cannes, France, the KISS singer Gene
Simmons revealed his thoughts on file sharing. His solution:
sue, sue, and sue some more. When he says lawsuit, he’s dead
serious. “Make sure your brand is protected,” Simmons said.
“Make sure there are no incursions. Be litigious. Sue everybody.
Take their homes, their cars. Don’t let anybody cross that line.”
The reason Simmons was there in the first place was to promote
the 100th episode of his show, Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels.
Combined with the profits from both TV and music, the artist’s
enterprise has about 3,000 items in total on the market.
