The world's largest property market MIPIM took place in Cannes March 10-13. With the crash in the property market at the centre of the global credit crunch, attendance was down by one third this year. However it was billed as one of the most important MIPIM ever as global leaders in the property market met to size up their options for the future.

This video report looks at the property market from both a local and a global perspective. We hear from Peter Rhodes, Managing Director of Reed MIDEM, organisers of MIPIM; Peter de Soissons, Sales Director of Reed MIDEM's UK Property Division; Local Estate Agent Chrtistine Davis, Proprietor of the Chrisma Agency in Port de la Rague; Boris Johnson, Mayor of London and MIPIM attendees.

Official MIPIM 2009 Blog

MIPIM blog 6: Less is more  TheLawyer.com 16 Mar 09 Arriving at Cannes at first nothing really looked different from any other year - the expanses of additional tented exhibition space, the hoardings bearing the names of various agents and banks adorning the front of various hotels and the sun glinting off the boats bobbing along the Jette Albert Eduoard. Then you notice it. Rhodri Pazzi-Axworthy, real estate partner, Nabarro.

Sean Griffiths Mipim 2009: Those crazy Russians Building Design 13 Mar 09 Yesterday I spent a good portion of the day showing various people my favourite stand, which can be found in the Russian Federation tent. In the notable absence of the usual hyper models of hyper developments that are normally the staple diet of the stands hosted by the Gulf states, the Russians have won this year's megalomania and crazy model competition hands down.

Susan Freeman's MIPIM 2009 Blog - Friday 'The MIPIM gods have been kind – the rain held off until today, the final day of MIPIM and Cannes is looking drably wet with a distinct after the party feel to it'.

Sean Griffiths Mipim 2009: Four legs good, four wheels bad Building Design 13 Mar 09 The most noticeable effects of “challenging times” are the lack of parties, people leaving early, and the fact that I’m having to buy my own lunches. These are tough times indeed.

MIPIM blog 3: Champagne and freebies  The Lawyer.com 11 Mar 09 Clear blue skies, sun, light breezes, lapping waves – sometimes it’s difficult to remember that there is a real world out there with storm clouds gathering. If this can’t put people in the mood to do deals, nothing can, but the unfortunate reality is that it will take more than the Cannes sunshine to make the banks lend and investors put their hands in their pockets. Graham Prentice, real estate partner, Dewey & LeBoeuf.
