Snow on the French Riviera - The day after

Snow chaos hits the French Riviera  RLTV 12 Feb 10 Snow chaos seized the Cote d'Azur Thursday 11th Feb 10 as up to 20cm covered the region. The A8 motorway was shut down, cars were abandoned on blocked major roads, 111 out of 234 flights were cancelled or diverted at Nice Airport and the Cannes-Grasse rail link and penetrante road were shut down. With snowfall having subsided Thursday night, the A8 motorway reopened but low temperatures kept snow on the ground Friday 12 Feb 10 with the thaw beginning in the afternoon. Freezing temperatures overnight meant further disruption Friday morning. There were some cancellations at Nice airport and driving conditions remained precarious until the bright sunshine bought on the thaw in the afternoon. MD.
